1. S. D. Savale is doing Ph. D. in Department of Sociology, Shivaji University, Kolhapur on "Implementation and Performance of the Rural Poverty Reduction Programmes: A Comparative Study of Employment Guarantee Scheme (EGS) and Sampoorna Gramin Rozgar Yojana (SGRY) in Nasik District (Maharashtra)" under guideship of Prof. Dr. Sarjerao Salunkhe. 

2. S T Patil has registered as a Ph. D. student from YCM Open University, Nashik and her research topic is “An Impact study of Swarnajayanti Rozgar Yojana on change in the status of BPL Women from Nashik district.” She is working under guidance of Dr. N R Chaudhari from YCM Open University.

Lecture Series:

The department has organized a series of special lectures of the outstanding sociological researchers.

1. The first lecture in the series was delivered by Dr. Anuradha Bhoite from Pune on July 10, 2007. She guided our students on “Scope and Facets of Sociological Research”.

2.  The second lecture in the series was delivered by Dr. Sangram Gunjal from Ahmednagar on July 10, 2007. She guided our students on “Scope and Facets of  Sociological Research”.

Academic Linkages of the Department


1. Late Dr. S C Kohok and P B Kolhe elected as Chairman of Sociology and Anthropology Boards respectively by the Pune University BOS Committees. They are also members of Faculty and Academic Council of Pune University.

2. S T Patil and S.D. Savale are working as member of Sociology Board of Studies.

3. S D Savale appointed as Student Welfare Officer at Nashik District Unit of Pune University.

4. S D Savale selected as a member of executive council of Maharashtra Stri Abhyas Kendra, Pune.

5. S D Savale is also involved in the advocacy activities of PRAYAS,an NGO Pune, Mahrashtra Rajya Shetmajoor and Kastakari Samanvaya Samiti, Aurangabad, a state level activists group working on Employment Guarantee. His campaign to propagate Government Employment Schemes in the tribal areas continued generating better employment to the tribal and empowerment of the activists groups.

6. S D Savale is associated as a trustee with Pragati Abhiyan and Nashik, Lokadhar, Nashik, and Anand Niketan, Nashik.

7. S C Kohok, S T Patil, S D Savale are Life member of All India Sociological Association, a National level Sociological Association.

8. All of faculty are are member of Maharashtra Samajshastra Parishad (a State level Sociological Association).

9. P B Kolhe and S T Patil are associated with Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University in the areas like- Councilor, Writing Text Books and Preparing Question Banks

Other Departmental activities  

1. Film Show and discussion:
Started Film Show and discussion activities from 2006-2007.  In academic year 2008-09 the films we showed and discussed so far include- Modern Times, Ankush, SEZ, and so on. 

2. Social Awareness Club and Bal Sanskar Kendra:
Our department is Continuing Social Awareness Club and Its Bal Sanskar Kendra activity: In year 2008-2009 our 20 to 25 students joined “One Student One Tree Campaign”, in Tiradshet, a village that selected by KTHM College under Samartha Bharat Abhiyan.

3. Social Justice Rally:
The department is practicing various extension activities in the areas like Social Dramatics (dramatically presentation an event on socially relevant issues in the “Social Justice rally” organized on the eve of Rajarshi Shahu’s birth anniversary. On June 26, 2008 we presented plot on the theme of Chatrapati Shahu and his untouchability removal action regarding Gangaram Kamle. 

4. Study Tours:
The department conduct study tours to supplement class room teaching. In year 2007-2008 we visited Remand Home.  Our students and faculty interacted with the prisoners and the so called deviated children.  

5. Research Activity for and by the Students:


1. In year 2006-2007 our TYBA and MA Students are conducted a survey on “Religious Beliefs and Blind Faiths of College Students”.

2. Agrawal Umesh and  Rokade Prashant M.A. Part –I students took part in Avishkar 2006, A STATE LEVEL  RESEARCH  PROJECT Competition and presented their paper “Health Awareness among women of two minority Communities - A comparative study of Dindori Taluka in Nashik District.”.

3. 25 Sociology students took part in Household survey programme of village Tiradshet. This activity was a part of practical research exercise to our TYBA and M A students who are studying Research Methodology in their curriculum.

4. In year 2008-2009 M.A. Part –I and BA students did a research on “Combating Evil Traditions by Traditions: Kansara Marriage – Then and Now”. The project was presented in Avishkar 2008 and secured third rank.
