1. Name of the department : Mathematics, K.T.H.M.College Nashik


The Department of mathematics was established in 1970. At that time main focus was on teaching at pre-degree and degree mathematics. Department started M. Sc. – mathematics course in 1992 and became the second department offering postgraduate courses outside Pune University campus. As mathematics forms a backbone of computer science, department started interdisciplinary course M. Sc. (Tech) – Industrial Mathematics with Computer Applications in 2006. The syllabus of M. Sc. (Tech) is so designed that it offers dual opportunity to students.

The Department is well equipped with all amenities. It has departmental library with good collection of reference books and standard textbooks. It has well equipped computer laboratory.

Faculty members of the Department are well versed with mathematics. All members are duly qualified and well experienced. Faculty members always motivate students towards higher studies and help them to prepare for competitive examinations such as NET, SET, and GATE etc.

2. Courses

B. Sc. – Mathematics

This is full time three-year degree course. This forms a foundation for higher education in mathematics. In this course we cover basic analysis (Real, Complex), abstract algebra, ordinary and partial differential equations and some applied topics such as operations research, dynamics, differential geometry etc. After completion of this course most of our students join teacher-training courses such as B. Ed. Some students opt for higher studies in mathematics.   


M. Sc. – Mathematics

This is two-year full time postgraduate course. In this course we teach courses like algebra, analysis (Real, Complex, Functional), Differential equations (ordinary and partial), theory of relativity etc. After completion of this course our students opt for job in teaching profession in colleges. Some of our students go for research in mathematics. Throughout the course our faculty members concentrate on teaching so that students get prepared for competitive examinations such as NET, SET, and GATE etc.


M. Sc. Tech. – Industrial Mathematics with Computer Application

This is three-year integrated postgraduate course. It is so designed that its dual-purpose curriculum covers the syllabus of M. Sc. – Mathematics as well as M. C. A. Unique feature of this course is that every student has to go through 6 months industrial training in the last semester. This course fulfils the requirement of software industry as IT professionals with strong mathematical background and logical thinking.
